Keith Chan — Proud UT 19 Grad

Hi, I’m Keith. I’m a recent 2019 graduate from the University of Texas at Austin. While I majored in Mechanical Engineering and minored in Business Foundations, my interests are wide and varied. At the beginning of the year, I discovered an interest in coding and stock trading, and since then I’ve been trying to learn both.

I’m still a beginner, curious and fascinated by all there is to learn. I’m continuously trying to code more efficiently, adopt best practices, and navigate problems creatively. In this short time, I have already begun to see how understanding data can drive value for a both personal goals and for businesses.

As a beginner, I sometimes wonder if my code is worth showing off. But I’ve come to the conclusion that the code of a beginner is exactly what needs to be shared. I want to show that coding is not beyond reach for beginners. I want to show that having struggles is okay, and that baby steps are needed to become an expert. With that in mind, I aim to write simple and digestible code.

While there is much for me to learn, I don’t want to wait til I’m an expert to begin sharing what I’ve learned. My hope is somewhere out there, a fellow young career starter will see my work and know that every journey begins with the first step.
